The escalator

Two weeks ago we went to the mall to see if they had a build-a-bear shop, they didn't, but they did have an escalator by the map of the mall. Merlin wanted to go up the escalator and so did Summer, so I let them while I waited at the bottom with Carolee (who just lost her lunch in the parking lot) and Josh. Merlin went up faster than Summer and she got upset. She was afraid to go by herself. Merlin went again and this time held Summer's hand to help her on and then when he got to the top he ran ahead and started coming down when he noticed Summer couldn't get on by herself again. So he turned around and tried to run up the down escalator. He dropped everything in his hands and landed with his shins on the escalator. He got off and came straight over to me, didn't cry but was hurt and pretty sore. He looked up at Summer and decided to go to her rescue. What a nice thing to do for his sister. After they were both down, they decided to try it again. This time things went much smoother. Merlin didn't want to stop riding up and down. All the while Carolee is not feeling well and Josh is lying on the ground watching them and coloring in a notepad. Finally I had, had enough and said good bye and started walking away so they would get the picture that it really was time to go. We made it home and then I looked at his legs and was very surprised he didn't cry when it happened.
